Country crossover stars The Band Perry are currently trekking across the country on their 2015 tour, playing all their hits as well as their brand new single. As the tour rolls on, the band are inching closer and closer to the release of their much-anticipated new studio album via The Big Machine Label Group. For now, the disc’s first single “Live Forever” is out and rocking the radio waves. The song a country anthem saturated with the perfect amount of pop, and is a definite indication to be a huge success for the band. They released the official music video for the track back on August 16, and its quickly approaching 1 million views on YouTube.
The Band Perry opened the show slowly with their eerie love song “Better Dig Two” in front of nearly 10,000 fans at the Mohegan Sun Arena at the Mohegan Sun Casino & Resort in Uncasville, CT. Then, The Perrys and company tore right into their rockin’ break-up anthem “Chainsaw.” From there they proceeded to play an energetic 16-song set comprised of their own hits as well as some cover tunes. Highlights included “You Lie,” “Postcard From Paris,” “All Your Life,” and “I’m a Keeper,”
A few cover tunes were also thrown into the mix. The band played a pop mash-up that included The Eurythmics, Gnarles Barkley, and Justin Timberlake. Lead vocalist Kimberly Perry truly displayed her singing chops on their version of Dolly Parton’s classic “I Will Always Love You” (made famous again in 1992 by Whitney Houston). Before the encore, the band closed the set with great rendition of Queen’s classic “Fat Bottomed Girls.“
“You guys have changed our lives and made our family’s dreams come true,” Kimberly said to the crowd before their performance of “Hip To My Heart.“ “Thank ya’ll! This was our very first song on country radio.” Before “If I Die Young,” home video footage of Kimberly, Reid and Neil on the big screen took fans for a stroll down the family’s memory lane. The crowd emphatically finished the first line of the song acapella. After the set, the group returned to the stage for a two-track encore. First, they debuted their brand new single “Live Forever” which received a warm response and had many fans already knowing the lyrics. The band ended the show with their signature smash “DONE.”
Kimberly, Reid and Neil released their self-titled debut album in 2010. The disc hit #2 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart and went on to sell over a million copies. They returned in 2013 with their sophomore effort Pioneer which hit #1 on Billboard Top Country Albums and #2 on the Billboard Top 200. The album produced three Top 10 singles for the band, with “DONE.” peaking at No. 1.
